Stuck in the Middle

We are always in the middle of two energies. Gravity is sinking you down, and inspiration is pulling you up.”

- Mandy Ingber

Happy Monday!

Where is your middle ground? That place that allows you to see all sides, to think things through and fully be who you were meant to be before you head towards higher ground?

Here is what I can share about myself and this topic of middle ground.

Unlike my beloved Yellow lab, Luna Marie, who has one switch either on or off. There is no middle ground for her.

I have lived most of my entire life including in business being in the middle. Always seeing more because I had to look in all directions while finding my best self where I stood in the moment.

I was born in the middle of my siblings - #3 of 4 children in my original family and #5 of ten when my family got extended at age 15.

I live in the pretty much in the middle of the United States here in Boulder, Colorado in the middle of North America, which is pretty much in the middle of the world – right?

I am considered middle class by economic standards.

I am in the middle of my life story – or so I keep on telling myself. ;)

Now one could think that middle is just “average” and who the heck wants to be average? Haven’t we been told all of our lives not to be average to be above average?

What I have come to discover in this middle existence of mine is that there is strength in being in the middle – think of the teeter totter and its greatest balancing point is right in the middle. Life to be sure can be a quite a teeter totter event.

The story of our lives has a beginning a middle and an end. I believe the best stuff happens in the middle. Yet, if we aren’t careful we can find ourselves either spending way too much time looking back to our past, our childhood which was our beginning or looking ahead towards our end – retirement and all those things we are “looking forward” to only doing then.

This is the middle right now. The time we need to be enjoying the best our life has to give. Success is only fully enjoyed when we enjoy the journey in getting there as well.

What are you in the middle of in your life story? Are you feeling stuck? Or perhaps just churning along with no real enthusiasm about what comes next? In this week’s Morning Momentum Monday video I share ways to achieve more in the middle.

This week’s quote says a lot about the pull of being in the middle. The key is knowing where you are so you can stop to smell the flowers in this moment. Know when you are ready to head to higher ground and when you are just fine where you are right now. If you ever feel stuck in the middle, you know it’s time to change course.

By understanding your why and where you are headed you can come to realize that the beauty and best parts can actually be had right in the middle.
