even though you are on the right track

Have you noticed times when even the simplest of details you have to attend to can start to get on your nerves?  You know that feeling that I have come to think of as the “hitting an iceberg” in more Titanic type terms.  Slowly but surely you feel like you are in one form or another slowly and painfully sinking - and there doesn’t appear to be a lifeboat left for you!

We all have this experience at one time or another and it usually has something to do with burnout. In can also be our resistance to a much-needed change. When time no longer seems to belong to us, and we start to feel that we have somehow become the personal slave of everyone around us... including our business.  It might even be that you can’t remember the last day you took off that was yours to do exactly as YOU wanted.

There are many things that can lead to this feeling of almost boredom in a very overwhelmed way. It’s not that you have nothing to do - in fact there are not enough hours in the day to get it all done. It’s more about starting to feel like your time is not being spent how you really want to spend it. Your time, bottom line, is no longer your own.

You start to lose your mojo, passion, and anything else that got you on the track you currently are on in one form or another.

In this week’s pic below I share the tracks I created from my recent cross-country skiing treks here on my property.

The interesting thing about making these ski tracks is that the more I repeated using the same tracks... the faster I went.  With my pooch Izzy running beside me, good music playing in my ears, the fresh air, and the beauty of the mountains off to the west, it put me in my element day after day where I just didn’t want to stop. However, all good things change with the seasons and the snow has now melted. Spring in all her glory arrives at the end of this week! For me, it’s time to find new ways to make tracks. Just imagine if I tried to keep going in those same tracks... I would be making a muddy mess!

As you look at your world this week, what is it that could be causing you to exist in the iceberg doldrums that you would love to shake up with the coming of spring?

Perhaps sales have been flat and it is resulting in the lack of business growth on a variety of levels.  I know that this in itself can put most of us in a tail-spin to be sure.  Perhaps you aren’t doing the things you love in your business and find yourself just doing the busy work - the work you like doing least.

First, stop and take a look at what is causing your lack of “umph” and then ask yourself what you can you do in the area of spring cleaning - both mentally and within the systems of your business - to insure that you are gliding along as needed in the season ahead.

It’s amazing what can happen with a few tweaks and the right support and guidance to get us back to making the tracks we need to make in no time.

Wishing you the most growth filled tracks and a happy spring ahead!
