What are things in your life that you are the most committed to doing? Those things that you are completely committed seeing to completion. This could be anything: a relationship, career aim, business plan, and so much more.
Recently while attending the wedding of my nephew, Ryan, and new niece, Katie, it struck me that when you get married you say two simple words to seal the deal “I Do!”
It isn’t, “I might”, “I’ll try”, “Most Likely I will”, or even “When I get the time I will get around to it”.... No. It’s “I Do”.
Ironically or not, Ryan also works for Nike, the company who became infamous for the tag line, “Just Do it.”
What is it that makes us commit so strongly to some things, fairly strongly to other things, and then not at all to what’s left? Is it what our skill set is around, our desire to see it happen, fate, or a combination of it all?
One element I think is true for the proper “I do” - we spend the time to accurately think it through. We give it the time and space to fully look at it from every angle then move forward with the love, passion, and desire to bring the vision for it to fruition.
When it comes to getting to the altar, look at the marriage proposal itself. That usually seals the deal when a couple is going to get married. Sometimes during the engagement period, however, it can all come tumbling down because while either party said yes or no to the question, “Will You Marry Me?” They think it through and come to realize that they can’t actually say, “I do”.
So when are the times you have said “I Do” and meant it with every fiber in your being? Please share your answer in the comment section below!
Remember this week ... either you do or you don’t. It’s always your choice.
And just for fun this morning because the song came into my head while writing this, here is a song dedicated to Ryan and Katie - Do Wah Diddy! By Manfred Mann. I hope it takes you right into a week that gets your do’s going strong!
