nature does not hurry yet everything is accomplished

Over the course of the next month I am going to share with you some thoughts around our most precious commodity of all. Yes, even before we deal with the principle of managing money, here at the Victory Circles we master the principle of Honoring Time.

When it comes to honoring time, we all have one single component in common. It is the fact that we all are given the same amount of time in each day. We all get 24 hours, but how we use those precious hours makes all the difference.

Finding yourself saying “I don’t have time” usually leads to suspicion to whether it is that you don’t really have the time to complete the task, or perhaps if there is rather a complete lack of desire.

That’s when the Procrastinator in each of us can take charge and have us putting off those things we really just don’t want to do, with the subconscious excuse of “I don’t have time.”

J. Tamar Stone in her beautifully written and illustrated card deck, Selves in a Box, describes The Procrastinator in each of us as follows:

Your Procrastinator is inspired by the moment. It diverts your attention from an internal or external expectation or deadline to something else entirely.

Your Procrastinator often accomplishes many other tasks in its avoidance of the one at hand. It creatively postpones or delays the completion of something to allow for incubation.

Its personality motivation is to alleviate the pressure of expectations. Its essence motivation is to allow time and space for germination or reevaluation.

If you find you have been procrastinating, stop and take a deep breath. All we have is the time that is in front of us, right now. Take proper action to better serve yourself and those that you share your life with.

In the comments below, I encourage you to answer the following 3 questions:

1) What is something you are procrastinating?

2) With an extra day this year, what could you do differently to illuminate things that matter most to you?

3) What have you been putting off that should just come off your radar altogether because it is in fact not serving you?

Whether it's reaching out to new clients, trying that new restaurant down the street, or taking that long overdue trip to Thailand - may today be the day you are finally getting around to it!
