As we make the shift from August into September, in the Victory Circles we are shifting from focusing on Accurate Thinking to focusing on the importance of Concentration.

These two modalities were different enough for Napoleon Hill to create them as two separate Master Mind principles.

Napoleon Hill’s definition of Concentration:

Concentration is the act of focusing the mind on a given desire until ways and means for its realization have been worked out and successfully put into operation.
— Napoleon Hill

We live in a world FULL of distractions. You could perhaps say that life is one big distraction!

One of the hardest things that I have found as an entrepreneur is that the visionary part of my mind can get me going in so many directions. Just ask my team here at VC and they will tell you that sometimes when I am working my workflow can sometimes be like throwing a bouncing ball into a small room. Unless I really sit down and focus on focusing, we would never get anything implemented.

To be able to fully give the right attention to our desires is what I have found makes a good blend.

Here is my Concentration Formula:

1)   Create a plan (in writing if possible) that includes the timing for getting it done.

2)   Quiet and clear the mind to allow you to be fully present.  Presence is mandatory. Thus why too much daydreaming doesn’t allow you to get a whole lot done.

3)   Be ready to simply walk away for 10 minutes to a couple of days from something that is causing you to over percolate.

4)   Possess a strong desire or interest in achieving the end result - as golf champion Tom Kite shares in today’s quote.

5)   Delegate and engage in the talents of others to assist you in bringing the task at hand to fruition.

Take a few moments right now and concentrate on these questions:

  • What is the one burning thing you that you have been wanting so badly to do achieve?

  • How many tasks are you doing yourself that if you delegated them, you could put the proper focus on that burning desire?
  • What are the elements that are stopping you from money to perfectionism? (Be really honest with yourself on this one)
  • How can you go about making some shifts in your life both personally and professionally that would allow you to concentrate on what you most need to in order to give your business your best skill sets?

Next week we will talk more about the growing ADD (attention deficit disorder) epidemic – especially with entrepreneurs.

Would love to hear in the comment section below any tips on how you best get into your own zone of concentration.

Here’s to a great month and fall season ahead!
